Meet the Team behind Lockwood Urban St Just
Karen Nicholas FNATD, RAD, DDMIX, Progressive Ballet Technique Royal Ballet School Inspire
Karen began her dance training in Nottingham at the age of 5. Within a few years she was treading the boards as a 'Babe' in the annual Theatre Royal Pantomime along side the 'Stars' of the day. Karen was fortunate to receive the very best in training after being accepted as an associate of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, attending Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) summer schools and performing with the Northern Ballet and English National Ballet. Unfortunately, illness prevented Karen pursuing her dream of becoming a professional dancer. However, following a move to Cornwall in 2005 and returning to dance with Judith Lockwood Urban, Karen trained and gained her teaching qualification with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD). Karen runs Lockwood Urban St Just and teaches at Lockwood Urban Dance and Theatre School (Newlyn). Karen is also a qualified 'DDMIX' Fitness Instructor and Progressive Ballet Technique Instructor. She is DBS checked, holds Level 3 Paediatric First Aid, Fully ensured and NATD accredited. Here with Darcy Bussell at her DDMIX instructor training course
